The Town is moving to a “Three Cart Program,” where all residents on the Town’s contract will have access to three carts: 1) Garbage 2) Recycling and 3) Compost and the cost customers pay is based on their selected garbage cart size.

The new Town contract with Republic Services will be starting April 1. Waste hauling service is provided through the Town for Original Town, Sagamore, The Ridge, Coal Creek Crossing, Downtown Superior, Calmante, Lanterns, Autrey Shores and Rogers Farm.

The Town has developed a one-pager for easy information sharing. More education and information opportunities, including ways to pick your cart size, is coming soon!

New Waste Collection Service Level

The Town is moving to a “Three Cart Program,” where all residents on the Town’s contract will have access to three carts: 1) Garbage 2) Recycling and 3) Compost and customers will pay based on their selected garbage cart size.

As of April 1, 2025, residents who are a part of the Town’s Three Cart Program will receive:

Weekly garbage collection

Weekly recycling collection

Every other week compost collection

More size choices for carts: 35-, 65-, or 95-gallon

All streams will be collection with electric vehicle collection trucks

There will be a new rate structure: Your monthly rate depends on your garbage cart size; the rate includes any size recycling and compost cart. See below.

2025 Costs and Timelines

January, February & March 2025

Service continues with Waste Connection with an annual increase.

Cost of Service through March 31, 2025:

Households with garbage and recycling service: $17.91 per month

Households with garbage, recycling and opt-in compost service: $32.90 per month

Starting April 2025

Service Starts with Republic Services.

The Town is moving from a flat fee to a volume-based model where what you pay for service depends on which garbage cart size you select for your household; any size recycling cart and compost cart are included in the cost.

You can have different cart sizes for each stream if you wish. You can swap cart sizes for free three times per year to find the best service level for your household.

Below are the per month prices for garbage, recycling and compost service. Any size (35, 65 or 96 gallon) recycle or compost cart is included in the cost.

35-gallon garbage cart: $19.14 per month

65-gallon garbage cart: $30.58 per month

95-gallon garbage cart: $40.02 per month

Additional carts can be added $7 per month for each additional garbage, recycle or organics cart. Residents must already be subscribed to the 95-gallon size of that waste stream to receive an additional cart.

Bulk item pick-up service is available $25 to $35 per item, depending on the item. Contact Republic Services at 303-286-5400 for more information and to schedule.

Neighborhood-Specific Information

Waste hauling service for Original Town, Sagamore, The Ridge, Coal Creek Crossing, Downtown Superior, Calmante, Lanterns, Autrey Shores and Rogers Farm is contracted by the Town.

Garbage, recycling and opt-in compost service for Rock Creek HOA, Saddlebrook and the Summit residents is provided by the Rock Creek Master Homeowners Association via contract with Waste Connections until 2028. The Town Board passed an ordinance to eliminate the exclusion of these HOA-managed areas from the Town’s single-service residential waste service provider area after that contract ends, at which point those neighborhoods will be served by the Town contract. Currently, the Town does not dictate service levels, service provider or oversee waste pickup for these neighborhoods. Curbside recycling is not available for residents of Bell Flatirons Apartment community. However, recycling is available at the recycling containers located in Bell Flatirons I and IV between buildings 13 and 14.

Yard Waste Recycling Facility

The Town's Yard Waste site is located at 2125 Honey Creek Lane, next to the Waste Water Treatment Plant. This is between the Saddlebrooke and Bell Flatirons neighborhoods. It is open year-round to accommodate the extended Colorado growing season. The site is for Superior residents only; please bring ID or some form of resident identification when dropping off items. This site is not to be used for commercial use.

Days and hours of operation:
Wednesdays after 2 p.m. until dusk.
Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. until dusk.
Fire or smoke damaged items, items covered in ash, or construction debris will NOT be accepted.

Accepted items: grass clippings, small branches (6 inches or less in diameter), leaves, and other organic yard material.

Items that are not accepted: rock, large branches (greater than 6 inches in diameter), sod, lumber and food waste.

Christmas Tree Recycling

From Dec. 26 to Jan. 31, the yard waste site opens every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to accommodate Christmas tree recycling. Please make sure all ornaments, tinsel and decorations are removed from the trees.
