On August 26, 2024, the Board of Trustees adopted regulations for Short Term Rentals (STRs) in the Town of Superior. These regulations are now in effect.

Over the coming weeks, the Town will be developing the applications and processes for licensing and regulation of STRs, and will be reaching out to property owners operating STRs to begin the process.

With the exception of licensing, operators of STRs are expected to comply with the requirements of the ordinance, which includes the following provisions.  Please refer to the ordinance for the complete information.

  • Every short-term rental shall be continuously insured, with minimum limits of $1,000,000;

  • Health and safety requirements, including the prohibition of outdoor fires;

  • Maximum occupancy shall not exceed 2 persons per bedroom, plus two other individuals;

  • Multiple STRs on the same property are not allowed. This limitation applies to two or more STRs operating within the same home at the same time, or within an ADU and the primary home at the same time;
  •  An owner of a STR shall only operate a single STR in the Town.

If you have a complaint about a STR operating within the Town, you may submit the concern on the Superior Click & Fix webpage or call the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office Non-Emergency Dispatch for an after-hours concern at 303-441-4444.
