The Town of Superior encourages you to go solar and support the Town’s commitment to increase carbon-free energy in all sectors. Not sure how much solar you’ll need? Consider the information provided on this flyer before going solar!  

The Town partnered with Boulder County to provide a program similar to Solarize Superior to support residents installing solar. Boulder County worked with the nonprofit Solar United Neighbors (SUN) to bring residents the Boulder County Solar Co-op to assist people in going solar together and purchasing solar panels at a group rate from a single installer.. The co-op exceeded its participation goals, with over 200 households joining the co-op! Boulder County is currently exploring ways to continue to support residents who want to go solar and plans to announce new opportunities in 2024.

Superior created its Beneficial Electrification Plan in September 2023. Electrification is the act of replacing gas- or diesel-powered equipment with electricity-powered equipment in buildings or transportation and is an important action to take to achieve our climate goals. This plan is also important to move forward the energy goals of our Sustainability Action Plan.

SolSmart 

Superior is a designated Bronze SolSmart community. By listing solar permitting requirements online, having an average turnaround time of two days for residential solar permits, waiving solar permit fees, and allowing installers to apply for permits via email, we have ensured solar is more accessible and affordable to Superior residents and businesses. Advancing solar energy benefits the Superior community, by not only reducing our carbon footprint, but also helping us become more resilient and adaptive.
