Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community and make it a better place to live! In Superior, you can volunteer at our community events, join a team working on ongoing projects or serve on a Town Advisory Group. We can also help you create a volunteer opportunity for your group, business or sport team based off what you want to see done in our community.

Volunteer projects will be posted to the Volunteer tab in Civic Rec. Volunteer opportunities connected to events will be posted in the Events dropdown below.

CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
Chili Fest GREEN TEAM. Green Team volunteers will receive a $100 visa gift card as a thank you for serving in this very important role. Help support the Town's zero-waste efforts by educating and guiding attendees regarding where to place the reusable chili bowls and water cups, trash and recycle. We will also ask a few folks to watch the event exits to make sure reusables are not being taken home (missing reusables come with a cost to the Town). This is mostly a hands-off assignment; pickers will be provided if sorting is needed. Volunteer must arrive at 1:30pm for a brief training session and work the full shift until 6pm. Breaks are supported. Green Team volunteers also receive a special green-team t-shirt and a free lunch. REGISTER for the Green Team.

Green Teams

The Town of Superior is looking to partner with businesses, local community-based groups, and individuals to help support our zero-waste community events and other sustainability efforts. These groups will form Green Teams as a part of a first-of-a-kind Town partnership program.

Why form a Green Team partnership with the Town?

Green Teams will receive unique incentives and/or recognition specific to your organization or group’s needs based on tiers of services.
Support the Town of Superior’s municipal goal to keep 65% of waste out of the landfill by 2025 through reducing consumption, recycling, reusing and composting.
Increase the community’s understanding and execution of zero-waste efforts.

Ride Autrey

Looking for some good, hard and dirty work? We have an on-going project to help us keep the bike park looking great. This group will also be helping in the continued enhancement of the park by suggesting new features and implementing those approved changes. The bike park is located at Autrey Park, 1830 Honey Creek Drive. If you are interested in getting involved, contact: VolunteerOps@superiorcolorado.gov.

Open Space

Open Space Ambassador Program: recurring open space volunteer opportunities that receive training and other benefits!

1. Noxious Weed Crew: sign up to remove a designated noxious weed specie from open space lands each month from May to through September. This pilot program is starting small with 8-12 crew members, but is expected to expand in following years. Snow Busters

The Snow Buster program exists to assist residents who report they are physically and financially unable to remove snow, sleet and ice from the sidewalk adjacent to their property remain in compliance with Municipal Code 11-1-20.

Sec. 11-1-20. Removal of snow and ice.
It is unlawful for any owner to allow snow, sleet, ice, dirt, debris or any other obstruction to remain on the sidewalk adjoining such land within the Town longer than twenty-four (24) hours from the time of the last accretion of such snow, sleet, ice, dirt, debris or other obstruction.

Residents requesting assistance must be:

Individuals with a disability or physical impairment
Seniors who are physically unable to lift or move snow and ice
Individuals unable to pay for a private contractor to provide this service

Volunteers will be assigned to a neighbor who needs assistance with snow removal. Upon pairing, contact information will be exchanged and communication will continue between the volunteer and resident moving forward. Snow must be removed within 24 hours of a snow fall consisting of more than 2 inches of snow. The only required section of property is the side walk in front of the home. Participating in the Snow Buster Program does not guarantee a volunteer will be available to shovel after snow events. Staff is not responsible for snow removal in the absence of a volunteer.
