The Town of Superior has long had an interest in offering cultural, aesthetic and social cohesion to both the community and to its urban design. Sculptural and two-dimensional works have been installed throughout the Town as early as 1988, and the public art collection has only continued to grow.

Most all public art acquisitions are formally commissioned through the Cultural Arts and Public Spaces Advisory Committee (CAPS), who then make recommendations to the Board of Trustees. Others are guided by community input or projects, are part of the ARTery art path project, or stem from recommendations within the Superior Creative Placemaking Master Plan. 

Permanent Collection

The Town of Superior's Permanent Art Collection is made up of over 40 permanent, developer, and/or on loan artworks. The collection includes pieces found in many of Superior's parks, the Community Center,  and along the ARTery art path.  Artworks are most often commissioned through a formal selection process, are on loan, are acquired by legal responsibility, and/or are short-term due to the loan period or inherent lifespan of the art itself.  Due to so many variants, some artworks may only be in the collection for a short time,  but most will be around for residents to enjoy for years or decades to come!
