Historical Commission Program: Shootout at the Superior Depot

It was during the Long Strike of 1910-1914 that “hot lead” flew as Superior’s town marshal and a strike breaker tangled on the platform of the Superior train station. The shootout between “Dude” Searcy and Marshal D’Andrea resulted in one fatality. To learn more about the incident and who survived, plan on attending the annual Spring Educational Program sponsored by the Superior Historical Commission and presented by its Chair, Larry Dorsey. His Power Point slide program will tell more about working conditions in the coal mines, the Long Strike, and, of course, the story of the gunplay that took place that night in November, 1911.
