For building professionals: The Builder’s Workshop (9am - 4pm) will provide construction resources, structured around available Xcel Energy + State of Colorado Rebates anywhere in the performance spectrum from IECC 2021 energy code, up to Passive House standards.
Workshop #1: The morning workshop series will explore the benefits of both double stud walls and exterior insulation vs code-minimum walls. Featuring local professionals sharing their practical, experienced-based knowledge, you’ll gain a hands-on understanding of these different approaches to high-performance building and the benefits they offer. Working in small groups with other builders and full-sized mockups you’ll gain the expertise you need to take on new wall systems.
Workshop #2: The afternoon workshop series will dive into air sealing for high-performance homes exploring framing and it’s relationship to good air sealing including details and sequencing - you name it, insulation and airtightness expert Kevin Brennan will walk you through it. This new grasp on high performance walls will be paired with an overview on mechanical systems and options best suited to well insulated and tightly sealed homes.
