Community Participation
Young, aspiring artists are invited to register to paint outdoors with professional artists. The first 15 youth (12-17 years old) to register will receive a spot and be paired with one of 15 Colorado artists who were selected to participate in the en plein air festival. The participating youth will be given materials and supplies to make artwork and receive one hour of coaching by a professional artist, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Youth must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times during the coaching session. Arrival time at the event info tent is no later than 10:45 a.m. at which time you will be assigned to a professional artist. Deadline to register is September 12th 5:00 p.m.
Attendees can wonder around the park to watch the painters, try their hand at painting en plain air at the DIY stations and enjoy breakfast delights and coffee! Find the community art-making station by Sherry Smith who has created 75 ceramic birds that can be painted at the festival then later join a community flock installation (inspired by Louisville's bird flock by Rita Vali).
En Plein Air Art Exhibition
The art produced at this event is sure to be gorgeous. You can enjoy the completed artworks in an exhibition at the Superior Community Center in January 2022.
