This historic walk takes us to the homestead and farm buildings in Grasso Park, then on south to the site of the Industrial Mine and Mine Camp. Commission volunteers will lead the walk telling history stories along the way. At the mine site, many foundations are still visible and volunteers will explain what buildings they were associated with and point out the actual spot where the coal mine shaft is located. The walk begins shortly after the museum closes at 2:00 p.m. on May 5th. Come early and visit the museum before the walk. Participants should plan on walking 2-3 miles over uneven terrain containing cacti and yucca plants along with old scrap metal. In other words, please wear strong shoes or hiking apparel.
