Hard to Recycle & Mower Take Back Event

Superior residents are invited to participate in the annual Household Hazardous Waste, Hard To Recycle and Mower Take Back event!

Mow Down Pollution- Free Gas Mower Recycling and Discounts on Electric Mowers
Free gas mower recycling! The Regional Air Quality Council will be on-site to give out “Mow Down Pollution” vouchers for discounts on electric powered equipment for residents who bring gas-powered lawn equipment to recycle. ACE Hardware will be on-site to help with recycling. For the quickest service, please drain your mower and empty grass clippings ahead of the event.

This event is hosted by the Town in partnership with Eco-Cycle, Boulder County Hazardous Waste, the Regional Air Quality Council and ACE Hardware.

Some items that residents can drop off for FREE include:

  • Household batteries please use clear tape on both terminal ends and ensure there are no leaks
  • Fluorescent tubes and bulbs (straight tubes and CFLs) 
  • Plastic Film bubble wrap, plastic shopping bags, Ziploc bags. Film must be empty, clean, and dry with stickers and receipts removed. No plastic food wrap. 
  • Paint (latex, oil-based and aerosols) 
  • Computers, laptops, cell phones, and tablets
  • Household chemicals

 Some items including CRT TVs and monitors, flat screen TVs, small appliances, monitors and fire extinguishers can be recycled for a fee (The Town will cover 50% of the costs as funding allows).

 Items NOT accepted include:

  • White block foam, StyrofoamTM
  • BBQ propane tanks
  • Mattresses
  • Big #2 plastics (play structures, lawn furniture etc.)
  • Business waste
