US 36 Express Lanes Project
In partnership with CDOT, RTD and the Colorado HPTE, 36 Commuting Solutions and the US 36 Mayors & Commissioners Coalition have successfully assembled funding from a variety of partners to start the re-invention of US 36 into a multi-modal corridor.
As the largest CDOT project in the state, the $497 million undertaking will develop the US 36 Bikeway, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service, and a new Express Lane in each direction from Federal Boulevard to Table Mesa Drive in Boulder. The project began in 2012 and will be complete in early 2016. Visit the Construction Updates page to learn about progress on the US 36 Express Lanes Project.
These Express Lanes will be used for High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV), High Occupancy Toll (HOT) and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), greatly alleviating congestion and providing US 36 commuters with more commuting options. CDOT has chosen the Ames/Granite Joint Venture as the design-build contractor and Plenary Roads Denver as the corridor’s concessionaire.
