Pilot Project To Help Calm Traffic In Original Town

After a series of serious and significant complaints and subsequent community dialog with the Town’s Transportation and Safety Committee, along with multiple traffic and speed monitoring studies, the Town Board has determined cut-through traffic in Original Town has become a major issue for the residents who call this part of our community home. For this reason, the Board has decided to initiate a public awareness campaign emphasizing the use of McCaslin Blvd. and Marshall Road to access the Superior Marketplace.  Guide signs are now installed on McCaslin directing traffic headed to the Marketplace to use Marshall Road exclusively, instead of cutting through the Original Town neighborhood on Coal Creek Drive.  In addition, a new pilot project will restrict traffic patterns and discourage drivers from cutting through Original Town.  The new lane configuration has been installed at 4th Avenue & Sycamore Street, requiring northbound 4th Avenue drivers to turn right at Sycamore Street.  The Board will be reviewing feedback regarding this project over the course of the next several weeks, so please email your thoughts to Public Works Director Alex Ariniello at alexa@superiorcolorado.gov.
